If the ocean called you once, it will call you again — louder and with even more to explore. The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is designed for those who have already experienced the underwater world and are ready to broaden their skills, dive deeper, and discover new adventures.

This course is not just about adding a certification; it is about building confidence to explore with greater freedom. You will focus on three essential areas through guided online learning: Thinking Like a Diver, Deep Diving and Underwater Navigation. These form the foundation of your advanced skills and prepare you for the dives ahead.

Beyond these core topics, you can tailor your experience by choosing three additional adventure dives that suit your interests. Whether you want to try night diving, wreck exploration, photography or underwater naturalist skills, this course offers the flexibility to shape your own journey.

All your theory is completed through PADI eLearning at your own pace, so you can learn whenever and wherever suits you. When it comes to the practical side, there is no mandatory pool work unless you need a Refresher Course.

You will complete your five adventure dives at fantastic local sites such as Bass Lake Adventures or Miracle Waters. For those drawn to the sea, ocean-based dives are available on request.

This course unlocks a new level of freedom and excitement in your diving, allowing you to safely explore deeper and more complex environments with confidence and skill.

What You Can Do With This Certification

As an Advanced Open Water Diver, you can dive to depths of up to 30 metres, opening access to a wider variety of dive sites worldwide. You will have mastered underwater navigation and deep diving, and explored specialty dives that excite you personally.
This certification enriches your diving experience, prepares you for future specialty training, and enhances your confidence to enjoy every dive fully.

What It Entails

You will complete the core PADI eLearning modules starting with Thinking Like a Diver, which is purely theory and does not include a dive. The two required dive specialties, Deep Diving and Underwater Navigation, form part of your five adventure dives and their corresponding theory must be completed before these dives.

In addition to the required modules, you will select three flexible adventure dives from a range of options. You will complete the eLearning materials for each of these chosen specialties before performing the corresponding dives. This approach ensures you are well-prepared and confident for every dive throughout the course.

Your five adventure dives will take place at either Bass Lake Adventures or Miracle Waters, with ocean-based dive options available on request for those wishing to explore open water environments.
