Description

Most divers who feel cold in a 5 mm suit are not badly insulated, they are badly sealed: water enters at the neck and the zip and moves through the suit all dive. The Aquaflex uses a semi-dry zipper system and a Canadian cuff at the neck to slow that exchange, which is where the warmth actually comes from. The neoprene is a 4-way stretch petroleum-free formulation, so the suit moves with a shoulder reaching for a valve rather than resisting it, and it is a more responsible material than standard neoprene. Powertex knee protection takes the abrasion from kneeling on a boat deck or a shot line, the place a wetsuit almost always wears through first. That answers a cold shore dive, a long boat day where the suit stays on between dives, and a wreck dive with contact. It suits a diver who dives cold water regularly rather than occasionally.
