On its own the skin keeps the camera clean and dry to 3.5 m for snorkelling or pool sessions. Video records at 1440 x 1080 at 30 frames per second, or 1280 x 720 at 60 frames per second for smoother motion, and stills reach 8 MP with a built-in LED flash. A 3x optical zoom and a macro mode that focuses from 5 to 30 cm cover both reef scenes and small subjects. Footage saves as .MOV files to SD or SDHC cards up to 32 GB, and the swappable lithium-ion battery charges from the supplied adaptor or a mini USB cable.
