The fabric is made from recycled plastic bottles, keeping them out of the waste stream, and it is lightweight and quick drying, so the hat can be worn straight out of the water without staying wet on the head all afternoon. A branded badge in silicone and faux suede is set into the crown. It crushes into a bag and comes out wearable, which a stiffer brim would not, and it turns a downpour as readily as sun.
