Description
A fish that bolts puts a sudden load through the whole float rig, and a length of hollow latex bungee takes the sting out of it. Free Divers sell 10mm hollow bungee rubber, made with natural latex and a hollow centre, in lengths from 1m to 20m. Rigged between the float line and the float, it softens the jolt on the line. Placed between the float and the speargun, it cushions the gun from a heavy fish. Divers who make their own float boingies can cut it to length from a longer roll. Latex lasts longer when it is rinsed in fresh water and stored out of the sun after a dive. It suits a spearfisher building or repairing float rigs and shock absorbers.
