Nuvair in South Africa
Nuvair builds breathing air compressors at its facility in Southern California, with its headquarters in Oxnard, and says it pioneered producing enriched air nitrox with semi-permeable membrane technology. The brand also makes compressors and membrane systems; what we carry is its oxygen analysis: one panel analyser and the sensors that keep Nuvair analysers working. See gas analysers and O2 sensors.
The panel analyser
The Pro O2 Panel Mount Remote Analyser 9 V mounts on a compressor or blending panel, with the sensor on a cord in-line with the gas a short distance away. The operator reads oxygen content during the fill without plumbing crowding the panel. It reads nitrox, heliox and trimix mixes, and runs from a 9 V battery so it needs no mains supply.
Choosing the right sensor
Nuvair sensors aren't interchangeable, so match the sensor to your analyser.
The O2 Sensor with Remote Jack 25 mV fits the Pro O2 Remote handheld and panel mount analysers, including the one above. The O2 Sensor for O2 Quickstick fits the Quickstick, the OMS O2 analyser, the UBS O2 Stick and Pro Trimix analysers sold before April 2013. The O2 Sensor with Molex 8-13 mV for Pro O2 Alarm fits the Pro O2 Alarm handheld and panel mount, and Pro Trimix analysers sold after May 2013.
Nuvair expects about 36 months from a sensor in normal use, so a dive centre can plan replacements and keep a spare to hand rather than lose its nitrox panel to a dead cell. These sensors are for surface gas analysis only, not underwater use. See technical gas analysers.
Questions we get asked
Which Nuvair sensor fits my analyser?
The remote jack sensor fits the Pro O2 Remote analysers, the Quickstick sensor fits the Quickstick and Pro Trimix units sold before April 2013, and the 8 to 13 mV Molex sensor fits the Pro O2 Alarm and Pro Trimix units sold after May 2013.
How long does a Nuvair oxygen sensor last?
Nuvair expects about 36 months of service in normal use in air.
Does the panel mount analyser need mains power?
No. This version runs from a 9 V battery.
Can the Pro O2 panel analyser read trimix?
It reads oxygen content in nitrox, heliox and trimix mixes. It measures oxygen only, not helium.
Where is Nuvair based?
Nuvair's headquarters is in Oxnard, California, and it builds its compressors at its Southern California facility.
How do I order Nuvair in Johannesburg?
Order online from Scuba Evolution in Johannesburg, delivered anywhere in South Africa. Nuvair notes the Pro O2 Alarm sensor may take longer to arrive.
