IMPULSE DRY SNORKEL

The Aqua Lung Impulse Dry is the dry version of the Impulse, and the difference from every other dry snorkel is where the valve faces. Aqua Lung turned it forward, so the water arriving at the top closes it rather than pushing past it.

A valve that closes faster is a valve that lets less water in, and a snorkel that takes on no water needs no clearing. That counts for most in the conditions where a dry snorkel earns its price: chop on the surface, a boat wake, a swell breaking over the head while waiting for a pickup. Underneath the valve the barrel keeps the low breathing resistance the Impulse is known for, so it does not trade air flow for dryness the way heavier dry tops do. A purge valve at the base clears anything that does get in without lifting the head.

The result is a snorkel that can be left in the mouth through surface conditions that would have an open-top snorkel filling every few seconds.

Supplied in black, blue, red or yellow. Suited to scuba and to surface snorkelling. Free divers generally prefer a simple open snorkel, because a dry valve adds volume and something else to flood on a duck dive.
