Peak Performance Buoyancy
SKU PPB001
Every good diver eventually stops fighting the water. This is how.
Watch an experienced diver hover motionless over a reef, adjusting depth with nothing but a breath, and it looks like magic. It isn't. It's buoyancy control, and it's a skill, not a talent, which means it can be taught properly rather than picked up by accident over a hundred dives.
The PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy course exists for exactly this. It refines the buoyancy basics you learned in Open Water into something closer to effortless: precise weighting, a streamlined body position, and the kind of control that means less air used, less silt kicked up, and a lot less bumping into things you'd rather not touch. All scuba equipment is included for the duration of the course, so there's nothing to source or hire beforehand, you simply show up and dive.
There's no exam pressure here and no complicated theory. Just two dives built entirely around making you a noticeably better, calmer diver by the time you surface from the second one.
Where Peak Performance Buoyancy Takes You
Divers who take this course consistently report the same thing afterwards: longer dives on the same tank, calmer nerves in the water, and the kind of control that makes underwater photography, wreck diving, and reef diving all noticeably easier.
The first of your two dives can often be credited as an Adventure Dive toward PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, so nothing here goes to waste if you haven't done that certification yet. It also counts as one of the five specialties toward PADI Master Scuba Diver, and pairs naturally with Enriched Air Diver, since better buoyancy stretches a tank of nitrox even further.

What This Course Entails
Prerequisites
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need Advanced Open Water before Peak Performance Buoyancy?
No. Peak Performance Buoyancy only needs a PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver certification. In fact PADI allows it to run concurrently with the Open Water course itself, adding just one extra dive, and completing its first dive earns you an Adventure Dive credit toward Advanced Open Water. Most divers do it early, because buoyancy is what everything else is built on.
How many dives does Peak Performance Buoyancy include?
Two open water dives with your instructor, focused entirely on weighting, trim, streamlining, and effortless hovering.
Will Peak Performance Buoyancy improve my air consumption?
Yes, this is one of the most common reasons divers take it. Better trim and buoyancy control typically reduce the effort (and air) it takes to move through the water, which tends to extend your dive time on the same tank.
Do I need my own gear for Peak Performance Buoyancy?
No. All scuba equipment is included for the duration of the course. That said, if you already own your own gear, particularly a weight system, diving in it during the course helps you fine-tune buoyancy in the setup you'll actually use going forward.
Does Peak Performance Buoyancy count toward Master Scuba Diver?
Yes. It's one of the five specialty certifications that count toward the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating, the highest non-professional classification in recreational diving.
Are air fills included in the course price?
No, and that is deliberate. Air is charged as you use it, per fill, and invoiced to you after your session. Every diver breathes differently, and building a worst-case air allowance into every course fee would mean the lightest breathers subsidising the heaviest, so instead you pay for the air you actually use and the course price stays lower for everyone. We confirm the current fill rate with you when we book your dates, and you are welcome to ask us for it at any point before that. Dive site entrance fees are also paid separately, at the site on the day.
