Description

A handle that stands up all the time catches on BCD straps, rack bars and the next cylinder along, which is why a folding one earns its place. This San-O-Sub handle clamps around the cylinder neck below the valve and hinges its loop up to carry, then folds down flat against the clamp once the cylinder is set down. The loop is wide enough for a gloved hand, and the weight of the cylinder is taken through the clamp rather than through the valve. On a crowded boat bench it lies out of the way of the diver kitting up next door; in a car boot it does not snag the other cylinders; and at a dive centre it lets a full rack sit tight without handles knocking together. Where space is not a concern the fixed version gives a firmer grip. It is a surface carrying handle only and is not rated for hoisting or lifting under water. It suits a diver who moves cylinders often and stores them close together.
