Cylinder Boot

Description

A cylinder with a domed base will not stand on its own, and one that topples on a moving deck takes a valve, a toe or a camera with it. A boot turns that curve into a flat footprint. This San-O-Sub boot is moulded in black PVC with four feet, and the gaps between them let water drain rather than sit trapped against the steel, which is where corrosion under a boot usually starts. The fit is set by cylinder diameter, not by litres alone: 171 mm for a standard 10 litre, 180 mm for the wider 10 litre steel, and 203 mm for 12 litre short and 15 litre cylinders. Measure the cylinder before ordering. It keeps a cylinder upright on a dive boat, protects the base on a concrete fill-station floor, and stops a cylinder rolling around a car boot. Pull it off every few months, rinse underneath and let both dry. It suits the owner of a steel cylinder.
