Description

A rig carrying float rings, polycarbonate housings and plastic light heads can end up positively buoyant, which is every bit as awkward as one that is too heavy. These bring it back down. Stainless steel, they screw into the tray's standard 1/4-20 sockets, so nothing has to move off an arm position to make room for them. Weights and float rings work together: rings go on until the rig is close to neutral, then weights bring it back to whatever the photographer prefers. Most shooters settle slightly negative for stills, where a rig that sinks a little is easier to hold still, and closer to neutral for video, so the camera stays in the frame that was set rather than drifting up out of it while a composition is being made. Housings and lights vary enough that the balance is worth checking in a fresh water tank rather than calculated. It suits a photographer whose rig has ended up floating.
