Garmin Descent G1

Description

A first dive computer tends to get outgrown within a few years, and the Descent G1 is built not to be. It covers single and multi-gas scuba with air, nitrox and trimix up to 100% oxygen, plus closed-circuit rebreather, gauge, apnea and apnea hunt modes, rated to 100 m with Bühlmann ZHL-16c and gradient factors. A new Open Water diver gets NDL and depth on screen, audible and vibration alarms and a 3-axis compass from the first dive. The same diver taking a nitrox or deep course later keeps the same computer. A freediver switches to apnea hunt mode on spearfishing trips. Battery runs up to 25 hours in dive mode and 21 days as a smartwatch, and the screen is a monochrome memory-in-pixel display under sapphire crystal. This version has no solar charging; the Descent G1 Solar adds it. It suits a newer diver who wants room to grow.
