Spiral Lanyard with Ring

Description

A torch or a compact camera dropped over a wall is gone, and a lanyard is the cheapest insurance against it. This Mares spiral lanyard coils up close to the BCD when idle and stretches beyond 50 cm when the item is in use, so a torch can be pointed into a crevice or a camera held out for a shot without unclipping anything. The coil has a steel core, the ring end fastens to the torch or housing, and a quick-release buckle lets the diver separate the two in one movement when the item needs to be handed to a buddy or stowed. Typical uses are a backup torch clipped to a shoulder D-ring, a slate or compact camera on a wreck dive, and a reel kept within reach while the SMB goes up. Rinse it after each dive so salt does not stiffen the buckle. Mares also make an all-stainless version. It suits a diver who carries small kit and does not want to lose it.
