Apeks Griplock Tank Buckle

Description

A cylinder band that slips is the fault divers notice at the worst moment, usually as the cylinder starts to rotate on the descent. The Griplock buckle is what holds it. It clamps the webbing hard when closed and releases cleanly when opened, which is the combination cheap cam buckles fail to manage once the webbing is wet and stiff. On a backplate rig two of these hold a single cylinder on nylon bands. On a twinset they secure the bands over the manifold. On a kit change they let a cylinder be swapped quickly without unthreading webbing. On a service they replace a buckle whose teeth have worn smooth, which is a gradual failure rather than a sudden one and is easy to miss. Two are supplied with the assembled WTX kits. It suits a diver replacing a worn buckle or building a rig.
