Divesoft in South Africa
Divesoft is a Czech maker of technical diving equipment. It says it designs and manufactures everything in-house, in a rebuilt carpentry workshop at Roudnice nad Labem, and that it began with an advanced helium analyser built by co-founder Aleš Procháska. The brand is better known for its Liberty rebreather and Freedom computers; what we carry is the analyser range and a few pieces of cave and wreck kit.
Choosing a gas analyser
Start with the gases you dive. For nitrox only, the SOLO O2 Oxygen Analyser is the simple one: one press, and the screen shows the oxygen percentage with the maximum operating depth at 1.2, 1.4 and 1.6 bar ppO2, so you can write the cylinder label on the spot. The DNA Nitrox Analyser is a 100 g capsule with no screen. It sends the reading to the Divesoft app on your phone and connects straight to a DIN G5/8 or M26x2 valve, so it lives in a pocket on boat days.
For trimix, Divesoft reads helium by the speed of sound through the sample, so there's no helium cell to wear out. The ECHO Gas Analyser is palm-sized and reads oxygen, helium and carbon monoxide, with a 5 ppm CO alarm that earns its place on a liveaboard with an unfamiliar compressor. It ships without a flow limiter, so the ECHO Gas Analyser Set with Flow Limiter is the easier buy. The ECHO Solid State Set swaps the galvanic oxygen cell for a DVO2 solid-state sensor, which Divesoft rates for a longer service life and less maintenance.
For a fill station, the He/O2 Analyser adds compressor monitoring with alarms, a mixing calculator and a FOUL AIR warning for hypoxic mixes. With optional modules and the Analyser Measuring Cables it also checks voltage and resistance, which is handy for torches and scooters. The He/O2 Analyser Blender Set packs it into a waterproof transport case with a flow limiter.
Flow limiters, hoses and sensors
A flow limiter gives the analyser a steady sample. The Professional Flow Limiter Mk2 DIN G5/8 holds 0.2 litres per minute at any cylinder pressure, so it can read the last few bar in a near-empty cylinder before a blend. The Flow Limiter for QD Connection plugs onto a low-pressure inflator hose, so you can recheck a mix with the regulators still rigged. Bought on their own, both need the Analyser Connection Hose.
Every galvanic oxygen cell has a working life. The R22S Oxygen Sensor is the cell Divesoft fits as standard in the ECHO, SOLO O2, He/O2 and DNA, and Divesoft gives its galvanic sensors a 12-month limited warranty. The R22D Oxygen Sensor is the membrane cell built for rebreathers, and the DNA accepts it too.
Reel, mask and harness parts
The Primary Reel is machined Delrin with 150 m or 200 m of 1.6 mm line and a spiral brake, shaped with feedback from cave divers for laying line into a cave or wreck. The Sentry Mask is a low-volume frameless single lens that works as a primary or a pocket backup, and it comes with a red and black strap cover, which is also sold on its own as the Mask Strap Cover. The QRF Quick Release Buckle 50 mm joins harness straps and opens only when both side levers are lifted together. Browse more in gas analysers and O2 sensors and technical reels, SMBs and safety.
Questions we get asked
How do I order Divesoft in Johannesburg?
Order the Divesoft range online from Scuba Evolution in Johannesburg, delivered anywhere in South Africa. Many items are ordered in for you, so ask us about timing on WhatsApp 082 557 3822 before you buy.
Where is Divesoft from?
Divesoft is a Czech company. It says it designs and builds its products in-house at Roudnice nad Labem, north of Prague.
Which Divesoft analyser do I need for nitrox only?
The SOLO O2 or the DNA. The SOLO O2 has its own screen and shows the maximum operating depth at three ppO2 settings; the DNA uses your phone as the screen and fits in a pocket.
Do Divesoft helium analysers have a helium sensor to replace?
No. Divesoft measures helium by the speed of sound through the sample, so only the oxygen sensor ages.
Does the ECHO come with a flow limiter?
The ECHO Gas Analyser on its own doesn't. The ECHO Set and the ECHO Solid State Set include the Professional Flow Limiter Mk2. If you buy a flow limiter on its own, add the Analyser Connection Hose.
How long does an R22S oxygen sensor last?
Divesoft quotes a life expectancy of about two years for the R22S in the SOLO O2, and its galvanic sensors carry a 12-month limited warranty.
