Cressi Competition Buoy

Description

A round float catches the wind and drags a diver off their line, which in competition is time lost for no reason at all. This one is spherical but slightly flattened, cutting wind resistance while keeping the volume, with a built-in inflatable flag so nothing has to be assembled or carried separately. It is made from PVC with a strong anchor point on the lower half for the line, which is where the load actually goes. It is supplied complete rather than as a float alone: a light 25 metre floating line and a small cylindrical lead weight of 150 g come with it, so it works out of the bag. The floating line matters, because a sinking one drapes over reef and snags. It is finished in orange and white for visibility. That answers a competition, a training session and a spearfishing dive on a marked line. It suits a freediver or spearfisher working a fixed line.
