Description
Reading a small display through a fogging mask in green water is the moment a dive computer either works or does not. The G2 puts a 390 by 390 AMOLED screen behind sapphire crystal, bright enough that a glance is enough at 30 m in poor visibility and legible without hunting for a backlight button. Battery life runs to 27 hours of diving or ten days as a watch, which covers a week of three-dive days without a cable in the bag. The case is fibre-reinforced ocean-bound plastic at 61 g, light enough to stay on the wrist between dives and on a run the following morning. Gas handling goes well past recreational needs, with one bottom gas plus up to eleven decompression or backup mixes, trimix support and adjustable gradient factors, and apnea and pool apnea modes cover breath-hold training in the same watch. It suits a diver who wants a bright screen and does not need tank pressure on the wrist.
