Garmin Descent X50i

Description

The Descent X50i is built for divers who want the screen to do the work. Its 3 inch, 640 by 360 colour display is the largest Garmin fits to a dive computer, laid out so depth, no-decompression time and tank pressure read at a glance in poor visibility or through a part-flooded mask. SubWave sonar links it to T2 transceivers, and that is what makes it a working tool rather than a large watch. An instructor reads pressure for up to eight divers without swimming round the group. A guide sends preset messages out to 30 metres to move a turn point. A technical diver reads twins and a stage independently on one screen. Rated to 200 metres under a sapphire lens, it runs 16 hours at default brightness and 20 on a night dive. It wears on elastic nylon straps with locking buckles, so it goes over a drysuit without a strap change. It suits instructors, guides and technical divers who lead others.
