NABUL

The Aqua Lung Nabul is a frameless single-lens snorkelling mask, which means the lens is bonded straight onto the skirt with no plastic frame between them. Removing the frame takes out most of the bulk and most of the weight, and it moves the lens closer to the face.

Closer lens means lower internal volume, and low volume is what makes a mask easy to clear: there is simply less water to push out with one breath. It also widens the view, because a single lens with no centre bridge gives an uninterrupted field rather than two windows with a nose in between. The skirt is soft silicone and the buckles are mounted on the skirt itself rather than on a frame. They swivel with the strap and lie flatter against the head under a hood or a cap.

The result is a mask that packs small, clears in one breath and gives a snorkeller a full view of what is below rather than a pair of portholes.
