D900V

The OrcaTorch D900V is a four-source underwater video light carrying neutral white flood, cool white spot, red and ultraviolet LEDs, with two titanium switches so the sources run independently rather than through one mode cycle. A photographer can hold a red focusing light while the white is off.

Neutral white flood gives 2200 lumens for 2 hours 45 minutes and 600 lumens for 4 hours 20. The cool white 8 degree spot gives 820 lumens for 4 hours and 250 for 18. Red runs 7 hours at 250 lumens and ultraviolet 5 hours. Beam intensity is 13,640 candela reaching 230 metres on land. The 11.1 volt pack holds 38 watt-hours across three 18650 cells and charges magnetically at 12.6 volts and 2 amps in 2 hours 30. The A6061-T6 body is Type III hard anodised, rated to 150 metres and to a 1 metre drop, measures 129.5 by 45 by 53 millimetres and weighs 430 grams, or 215 grams in water.

The result is one light doing the work of four. A macro shot, a wide reef shot, a shy-subject approach and a fluorescence hunt each want a different source, and swapping torches mid-dive is not an option.
