Mares in South Africa
Mares covers the whole recreational kit under one name, with contemporary Italian design behind it. A first full set can come from a single brand. Regulator and BCD sets are the largest Mares group in the shop, pairing the 26XR, Atlas 62X or Planet 88X with a Magellan HD, Rover or Rock Pro BCD. Wetsuits and fins come next.
Regulators and computers
The Dual 15X is the light starting point: a balanced diaphragm first stage on a DIN fitting, with an ultralight second stage. The Atlas 62X moves to an all-metal second stage built for cold and deep water. On the wrist, the Puck 4 runs Buhlmann ZH-L16C with adjustable gradient factors from a single button. The Quad Ci adds trimix and hoseless air integration. See scuba regulators and dive computers.
Fins, suits and warranty
Fins run from the Avanti Quattro and X-Stream for scuba to the X-Wing Pro for freediving, and wetsuits from 0.5 mm skins to the 6 mm Seal Skin. Fit decides both. Try them in the shop before a long trip, or browse scuba fins and wetsuits. Mares' own warranty terms run two years, with claims made through the dealer that sold the item. For gear bought here, that's the shop.
Questions we get asked
Where can I buy Mares dive gear in South Africa?
Scuba Evolution stocks Mares wetsuits, fins, masks, regulators, BCDs and computers online and at Shop U44, Glenvista Shopping Centre, Johannesburg. Delivery is free anywhere in South Africa on orders of R1,500 and over, and R150 below that.
How do I make a Mares warranty claim?
Mares' warranty terms give two years on its products and send claims through the dealer that sold the item, with the original receipt. For Mares gear bought from Scuba Evolution, the shop lodges and manages the claim for you.
Where can I get a Mares regulator or computer serviced in Johannesburg?
Bring it to the Scuba Evolution shop in Glenvista during trading hours, with no appointment needed. Regulators and BCDs go to the maker's appointed agent and usually take about two weeks, and dive computer battery changes are booked at the same counter.
