Garmin Descent in South Africa
Garmin's Descent range runs from dive computers that pass as everyday smartwatches to the large-screen X50i. The G2, Mk2i, Mk3i, X30 and X50i all run Buhlmann ZHL-16C with gradient factors and handle air, nitrox and trimix. A diver can learn on the same decompression model a technical diver plans with, then keep wearing the watch on land.
Choosing a Descent
The G2 has a 1.2-inch AMOLED screen behind sapphire, a 100-metre rating and an apnea mode. The Mk3i adds a 200-metre rating and SubWave sonar, reading up to eight T2 transmitters, so an instructor or guide can watch a whole team's gas. The X50i puts a 3-inch touchscreen on the wrist, and the X30 is its simpler sibling without air integration. Compare them in dive computers, or see the Fenix 8, rated for single-gas diving to 40 metres.
Stock, Special Order and servicing
Stock follows Garmin's own availability. Anything Garmin has out of stock stays buyable, carries the Special Order badge and is ordered in after purchase. Repairs and warranty work are booked at the Glenvista shop's servicing desk and go to Garmin's appointed agent.
